A. Adding Resources to Your List

 

1. To add materials from the library catalog, click Add, and from the drop-down menu, select Search the library. The basic Search the library pane opens.

2. You have the option to search within a specific collection.

  • Articles and more
  • Library Catalogue
  • Course Reserves - 
  • Page 1+ Libraries - Ontario Colleges Library Consortia 

3. Enter the search term and press Enter. You can also select whether to include or hide records that do not provide full-text access.

4. The search results are displayed. Optionally you can select Filter to filter your results by Type or Availability.

5. You can also search multiple fields with the advanced search.

6. When you want to add an item, hover over the item and use either the Drag icon (6 dots) to drag the item to a section in the list OR select the Add icon.

7. The add item options pane expands. Select whether to add to:

  • List
  • Suggestions  
  • Favorites  

8. If you have selected Add to: List, select the section to which you want the item added
9. Select Add to add the item OR Select Add & Edit to add the item to the section and open the Edit item pane.

 

10. Another pop-up may appear with options to indicate to the library to follow up on your request. Please select the appropriate choice. It's defaulted to No action required. Press OK.

1. To add a file, click Add, and from the drop-down menu, select Upload files. The maximum file size is 50 MB.

2. Browse to upload a file/folder. The Upload files wizard appears.

3. Once the file has been dropped, Readings & Resources pull item details from the file.  If needed, enter or edit the details and select Next.
Type: Defaulted to Document. You can change the document type
Title: Automatically uses the file name. You can manually change it.
Copyright Information: Defaulted to "No declaration." You can toggle it.

4. Enter the following field information and click Next

5. Optionally, select the section to which to add the item, check the Hide checkbox to hide the item from students, enter a Student note, or Add tag and select Add. The item is added to the list.

B. Adding Website Materials with CiteIt! Tool

If you wish to add materials from websites, the  Cite it! tool enables you to do so.

Note: You must be logged in to Readings & Resources to use Cite it! However, you do not have to have a specific tab with Readings & Resources open in your browser. If you try to use Cite it! but you are not logged in, you are prompted to log in.

1. Once you have added Cite It!, go to the website you wish to add to your list. You can verify the information pulled into the General Information and add more information in the Item details and Information for students. Tags can be added immediately when adding the citation. Additionally, citations from Cite it! can be added to a specific List, Suggestions, or Favorites.

 

You can add content from websites by adding the CiteIt! extension.

Chrome

1. Go to https://chromewebstore.google.com/ and click Get.

2. Copy the institution info. This can be found by going in Settings > CiteIt! > Browser Extension > Copy Institution Info.

3.You will need to connect the extension to the institution. Click the Extension icon, where a drop-down menu will appear. Search for Leganto CiteIt! Bookmarking and click the ellipse next to it. A drop-down menu will appear; choose Options.

4. Paste the institution code and Save.

To add Cite it! to your browser's bookmarks bar:
1. From the Settings menu (located at the top right side), select Cite it!

2. Drag the Cite it! button to your browser's bookmarks bar.


 

3. The CiteIt! tool has been added as a bookmarklet.
